Everyone exhibits all three Instincts in varying degrees with one dominant Instinct, one supporting Instinct, and one "blind" Instinct. Knowledge of the Instincts is a helpful part of the Enneagram framework as a catalyst for personal development through an increased understanding of oneself, especially in relation to others. Our Instincts highlight our strengths and natural skillsets, but they also illuminate our blindspots in a way that invites us to regard ourselves and others with more curiosity and compassion.
